Shenanigans.

So I'm sure most of you are wondering what the eff was up with my last post, eh?

Well, given that this blog is all about honesty anyhow, I don't feel any qualms about explaining everything. It'd seem silly to hold back, really. And...who knows? I might feel better after writing it down. Getting it out of my system.

Okay. First things first.

Father's Day weekend was...chaotic. If you hadn't already noticed, I don't talk about my dad a whole lot, here. Reason? He's bipolar (annd SURPRISE SURPRISE...not taking his meds) and has a narcissistic personality - a combination that made my childhood hell and significantly contributed to my ED. My parents eventually split up after one of his psychotic breakdowns, and my mum took me away to live with her.

So...by the time this Father's Day had rolled around, I hadn't seen my dad in over a year.

While I'm not exactly comfortable being around him, I felt that it'd be only right to share that day with him - to spend some time together before I head off to college.

What I didn't realize is that I was entirely emotionally unprepared to deal with who he's become.

To say he's let himself go is a hefty understatement.

He looks downright awful.

Cue, of course, the little voice in my head that loves to blather about how everything's MY fault.

"You shouldn't have left him to himself. He needs someone to take care of him. Just look at what's happened! You're a terrible, selfish bitch. You have every reason to feel guilty."

I cried myself to sleep that night, which made me feel even more silly and childish. I know now that I just needed to talk to someone, but it was so much easier to isolate myself and ride out the emotions.
So I did. And it was miserable.

Ugh. I'm actually still having a hard time rationalizing that voice. Not sure what to do about it.
Not sure if I CAN do anything about it.

Oh, but the crazy train doesn't stop here.

I also found out that my mom insured my tuition at Scripps..."just in case" I don't make it through (aka relapse during) the school year.

Wow. Thanks for having faith in me, mom.

*sigh*

Well, I think I've been on enough of a negativity kick for now. Let's switcheroo to some more positive topics, shall we?

Hmmhmm. So what other trouble have I managed to get into else have I been up to, recently?

(In no particular order.)

1. Chopping off my long, gorgeous locks.

Not as bad as it sounds, actually!

2. Taking Mum out to the the ball game.

Nah, she's not pissy or anything.
Just caught with a mouth full of Cheetos. =D

GO GIANTS GO.

3. And indulging in this place afterwards.

My only love.

Left - Mine. Key lime pie.
Right - Mum's. Black & white.

Yes, I decapitate my cupcakes.

*mouthgasm*

4. (Speaking of which..) More cupcaking with friends!

We're so awesome, we defy the laws of gravity!

(Either that or I just can't figure out how to rotate the damn picture. >=I)

Our creativity knew no bounds.
...and by that, I mean pop rocks and dinosaur sprinkles were involved. =D

5. Expanding my breakfast and dessert horizons.

Mango+bloobs+Kashi GLC = one happy Morgy.

'Nilla ice cream with mango and trail mix makes a lovely presentation.

And even lovelier taste.

..want a bite? ;]

6. Making fantastical new discoveries at my local Whole Foods.

You can just IMAGINE how ecstatic I was.
I practically skipped around the store. =D

This is quite possibly the best thing I've ever put in my mouth.

(....those of you with dirty minds - GO. AWAY. -_- )

7. Basically just enjoying the heck out of the sounds, smells, tastes, and colors of summer.

It's like the sun was condensed into flower form.
Pertyperty.

Well, that's all I can dig out of my brain for now. Next up - bar reviews! Keep a heads up for that post.

Although...I regret to say it may or may not be around for awhile. Mum and I are leaving on the 3rd for a roadtrip to Canada, and coming back the 12th. I'll do my best to get it out before then, but no promises. =/

Mhmk. I think I've rambled long enough for today..

Love you girls! And thank you so much for your incredible support and sweet comments on my last post. It meant a lot to me. <3

Hiatus.

Yeah, I'm sorry guys. I'm really struggling in a lot of my relationships and blogging needs to take a backseat for awhile. I'll be back once I sort everything out.

Please feel free to email me for any reason - morgimiester@yahoo.com

Much love. <3

P.S. And just so I'm not entirely disappointing, here's a link to the songs I've recorded so far. I'll be adding more periodically, so keep checking in!

Sunny day, sweepin' the clouds away...

Some of you may recognize the title of this post as an excerpt from the Sesame Street theme song - a merry little tune that has long evoked memories of childhood for those who once watched the show.

However, what you may NOT know is that Sesame Street is now the longest-running children's program on American television (having made it's debut in 1969). And, as such, its audience now reflects a variety of ages, ethnicities, and social backgrounds.

(Triviaaaa! I enjoy it...what can I say? ;])

For me, a once-avid viewer, the lyrics immediately call to mind vibrantly-hued muppets - all sporting distinct personalities: the comic duo of grumpy Bert and trouble-making Ernie, the enormous, hopelessly naive Big Bird, and furry, lovable Grover.

However, today's subject is of a darker nature...

Think monsters.

Didn't see this comin', didja? ;D

So...how is all this muppet-talk relevant, you ask? And what does the Cookie Monster have to do with anything?

You'll see. Allow me to show you.

First, reimagine the above image. Like this.

Can you see the resemblance?

And now, convert it to reality.

*slurp*

...still lost?

Hmm. Remember how my last post was a tribute to all things savory?

Well, it was a bit TOO much savory.
For Morgan, anywho.
And so, shortly after hitting the "publish post" button, she was found back in the kitchen with her three best friends:
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Butter
There were, of course, a few other ingredients that joined the party. But really, who gives?

Okay, okay. I suppose they're sort of important...
If you want to know more, click here.
(Note: I subbed out the raisins for mixed dried fruit, and the cookies still turned out splendifferously.)

Otherwise, hop on the cookie train and hold on - it's a wild ride!

ChuggachuggachuggachuggaCHOOCHOO.

Mix mix mix.

Splat splat splat.

Bake bake bake.

Wait wait wait.

(They.took.FOREVER.to.cool.down. -_-)

Nom nom nom. =]

After the loooong (albeit enjoyable) baking experience, I was thrilled to discover the cookies came out perfectly chewy, moist, and eyes-rolling-up-into-your-head DELISH.

And I have since found many ways to enjoy them. For instance:

As part of a snack with fresh fruit.

*munch*

'longside a nutritious lunch.
(Yes, I wrap my cookies in saranwrap.
Yes, I am neurotic.)

Moral of story: I think we should all take a leaf out of the Cookie Monster's book. What's wrong with a little indulgence here and there, anyhow?

Evidence:
Too much rabbit food can drive you crazy!

So...what's next on Morgan's baking agenda?

Yup.
Believe it.

Alrighty. All this bloggin' about cookies has set my tummy a'rumblin! I better go satisfy the beast. =]

Toodloo, m'dears!

P.S. Yes - I licked the spoon. And the bowl.

AND I LIKED IT.

...

DIE, ED! DIE! *whacks ED with cookie spoon*

Savor life.

Ice cream!
Candy!
Cake!
Cookies!
Chocolate!
Froyo!

(...are you drooling, yet?)

Sure, there isn't anything wrong with these things.
But y'know what they all have in common?

They're sweet.

And y'know what else?
I think Morgan's sweet tooth has been calling waaay too many shots, as of late.
(Quite literally. When WAS the last time I photographed something non-breakfast-y or dessert-y?)

Which is why I'm taking a wee bit of a break to get back in touch with my savory side.

Because girl cannot live by sugar alone.

(Oh, but I do wish..)

Note: many of the following pictures have been taking up residence in the darkest depths of my camera's memory banks. So they aren't all that recent, buuut still 'licious-looking nonetheless.
=]

So. What better way to start out than with an entree by mah homegurl, Amy?

Enchilicious enchiladas!

Silly camera wanted to focus on the veggies.
*shakes head*
...which is why I feel the next photograph is very necessary.

With porn like this, who NEEDS men?

Next up: a return to some good ol' brekkie for dindin.

Egg McMuffin, Morganified!
And therefore 1309567305973x better.
*nodnod*

But wait! The English muffin returns for another round of savoryness!

Toasted and smothered in Fromage de Affinois, and partnered with a Morgasmic salad.
Seriously, if you haven't already, BUY THIS CHEESE.
It's like a fastpass to tastebud heaven.
Mhmm.

And, speaking of cheese, I would be remiss to exclude this little adventure into Pastaland.

It's a magical place of cheesy, pesto-y goodness.

Cheese tortellini w/gobs of homemade pesto and a light sprinkle of parmigiano reggiano.

Hold on...what's that, ED?
I can't hear you! =P

Of course, though, I've saved the bestest for last.

Ladies and gents, I give you...

*drumroll*

Crabfest! (+toasty bread and salad)
..and is that butter I see?
Yup. Sure is.

WHUT.NOW.

Whew. That be a LOT of savory in one postie.
(For me, anywho.)
So.

...methinks some cookie baking is in order!

*dons apron*

Don't worry, I'll document the experience to share with y'all later. =]

Ta-ta for now!

The most important meal of the day!

That's right. I felt that it only right that this, my 50th postie, should be dedicated to...
the one and only...

Desayuno. Πρόγευμα. Déjeuner. Prima colazione. завтрак. الأفطار. Frühstück. Aamiainen. Pequeno almoço.

...or, as most of you know it:

Breakfast!

How many people routinely skip this meal?
Too.many.

In fact, about 7 in 10 Americans.

...

o.o

...

WHY?

When you can have nommage like THIS:

Persimmon steel cut oaties.
+walnuts and cinny.
Nomlicious indeed.

THIS:

Pink laday boats float peacefully atop a Kashi GLC+PB Puffin+ Activia sea.
Until...

Alas! The PB sea monster attacks!

And THIS?:

Activia, Kashi GLC, Coco Bumpers, strawbs, and Nutella make their debut in:
"It's Never too Early for Chocolate!"

Zoomzoom on the Nutella.
It is, after all, the star of the show. =]

And...guess what?

Nary a one of the single orgasmical combos above took more than 8 minutes to prepare.
(Possibly even 5 if you're awesome, like me. ;D )

Alrighty then. I know I'm prolly mostly preaching to the choir, here, but I think it's important to reiterate to those of you who need reminding..

Eating a healthy, well balanced breakfast can provide you will all sorts of neato benefits, including:

  • A more nutritionally complete diet, higher in nutrients, vitamins and minerals
  • Improved concentration and performance in the classroom or the boardroom
  • More strength and endurance to engage in physical activity
  • Lower cholesterol levels
(All courtesy of WebMD.com)

Moral of story: EAT BREAKFAST.

Or I will come after you with my PB jar.
And I will PB and feather you.
And everyone will point and laugh.
Because THEY WILL KNOW that you are a non-breakfast eater.

-_-

Well, I think I've bombarded you enough for today.

In other news!

Chanel and I went out on a shopping escapade yesterday, which may or may not have included a detour to...

I definitely did NOT munch a mini coconut cupcake here.
No sir-ee.

We did some hardcore shopping, fershur. And I managed to stop being a tight-wad long enough to buy a dress from Forever 21.

...and I'd SHOW it to you, but Mum whisked it away to be dry cleaned and I can't find it on the website.

Lame, I know. =/

So, instead, I will rise to the lovely Emily's summer-wardrobe challenge and give y'all a taste of my fabulous style. =D

Ahh. Summer dresses.
Simple. Comfy. Adorable.

Such an effortless look.

By the end of this summer, I promise I will have the most awful flip-flop tan you will EVER see.
...I take pride in them. =]

Okydokes. Time for Morgypants to get her beauty rest.
G'night, m'dears!

All was golden in the sky.

For many, the advent of summer signals a time of opportunity and new beginnings.
...especially for those who utterly failed to stick to their New Year's resolutions.

*whistle*
Not me, of course. ;]

Thankfully, however, summer usually finds me puttering around aimlessly with nothing to do, at which point I tend to look at my to-do list, think "Why the hell not?" and actually (*gasp*) get things done.

So. What does Morgy's said "to-do list" look like, this year?

Well, in no particular order, here goes:

1. Go skinny dipping.
(Those of you with virgin eyes are advised to look away now.
Graphic content below.)

2. Rediscover a healthy relationship with running.

3. Eat more peanut buttah.
(This is a toughie, I know. ;D )

4. Do something fabulous (translate: ridiculous) with my hair.

5. Three words: Ben and Jerry's.
Consume.

6. Spend more time with family.

7. And friends.

8. And the boytoy.

(Two pitchas, just because we have pretty much the cutest asses. Ever.)

9. Get drunk.
(Which, surprisingly enough, I was not in this photo.)

10. Record a CD of my music.
(Although this is really a "must-do", since I really enjoy having a head attached to my neck and Mum is ever-so-threatening when it comes to losing her live piano music..)

11. Take a deep breath. Slow down.
Look around.
And see things - really see them.

Now, this isn't the end of the list - not a chance. If I were to write the ho shebang out...I'd be an old, wrinkly lady by the time I finished. And I'd really prefer to actually live the years between now and then. ;]

Nope. These are just the ones that popped into my little noggin as I've sat here, writing.

But 'nuff 'bout me. What 'bout all of y'all?

What are your plans for the summer?

Give me a couple things. Or your whole list.
Whatever flips yer pancake. =D

On one last note - my stomach has seriously been acting up over the past couple days. As in sharp pain and cramping.
But only in the afternoons?
And no, I'm not preggo. Or riding the crimson wave.

Not sure if it's something I'm eating, or if I should go in to have it checked out?

I kind of just want my body to WORK, already.
*garumph*

Ah well. I'm off to grab some ice cream!
WHO'S WITH ME?

*scampers off*
